The Warrior’s Path invites you to our 6th Annual
40 Day Advent challenge
NOVEMBER 15th - December 24th
In one of life’s great ironies, the season that had been, in centuries past, set aside as a time to celebrate the birth of jesus, has now become the busiest season of the whole year — so busy that we hardly have any time left to actually spend with Jesus. And that leaves us feeling burnt out and empty, and to be honest, a little guilty knowing how far “off center” our lives have become.
A few years ago we decided we’d had enough of the old way of doing Christmas. We decided we wanted to put first things first, and let everything else fall into place.
And it was so good.
And we wanted to share that good experience with others, so for the sixth year in a row, we are inviting you to come along on this journey with us!
What is the 40 Day Advent Discipline Challenge all about?
at it’s most basic, it’s quite simple:
It’s about making your relationship with God a higher priority than it has been lately. Whether your problem has been inattention (not making it a priority really at all in terms of time actually spent doing something about it), lack of discipline (not sticking to it when you have been trying to make it a priority), or loss of enthusiasm (keeping the cold husk of “a quiet time” as a daily ritual, but no longer hungering after God in a tangible, relational experience), we want to help you climb out of the valley you feel stuck in and return to the heights that your soul was meant for.
We know that so often in life, the things we really need are a clear transition moment and an invitation to a fresh start, a little loving push in the right direction, a coach to remind us that we’ve got to make the right choices if we want to walk the road less travelled, and a cheering squad at our backs, reminding us that we aren’t in this alone.
So, how do you DO the 40 day challenge?
Commit with us to pushing back against the busyness of the season by intentionally and determinedly carving out some time every day throughout the holiday season to spend alone with God.
Push your own personal limits in the amount of time you spend alone with god, and in the quality of the time you spend alone with god.
Really make this a CHALLENGE, not just more heartless repetition of what you’ve been doing for years but hasn’t seemed to produce much fruit. Already have a consistent prayer time set aside every morning? TRY DOUBLING IT. Add a 20 minute walk with God through the park or the parking lot at lunch time. Start a new habit of spending a little time with Him debriefing the day at bedtime. Do the sorts of things you remember doing in the past when your hunger for Him was fresh, when seeking God was your glorious obsession. Chase after the mountain top. Get desperate for more of God.
